Traumatic Brain Injuries and the Path Forward

Trauma Brain Injuries (TBIs) can reshape a person’s life in an instant. Oftentimes, TBIs are unpredictable and carry elements of trauma or even Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), depending on the situation. The pain TBIs create in life is difficult to comprehend, much less support. This blog post will explore traumatic brain injuries and the path forward.

The Challenges of TBIs

Many different nuanced and/or prominent symptoms may appear during TBI recovery. Some of the more nuanced symptoms may include shifts in one’s identity, grief and loss, or even feeling brain fog and fatigue at times. Other, more prominent symptoms may include impulsivity, anger, aggression, challenges with daily functioning, or memory challenges. The Unspoken Pain of TBIs

Every TBI and TBI recovery process will be unique to each person. A challenge in this process that is not always discussed is what I call the ‘trudge’. The trudge is the everyday incremental gains and setbacks that take place oblivious to others’ awareness. This trudge takes patience, grit, self-forgiveness, and intentionality to move through and is filled with disappointment, failure, anger, and irritability. However, this is not only where physical healing takes place, but also, the shaping of your character as you overcome adversity.

Finding Yourself Amidst the Chaos

Furthermore, this recovery process can force you to look inside to find your strength. This strength can help to anchor you despite the many obstacles that continuously present themselves. This is where not only your character is refined but also your values. This will help propel you forward in life in the years to come.

Healing with Individual Therapy for TBIs in Wisconsin and Colorado

Sometimes, it’s hard for people to understand both the internal and external challenges in the TBI recovery process. An individual therapist near you can be a great way to support and continue healing from the effects of a TBI and address underlying trauma. I offer both in-person and online therapy services at Revitalize Mental Health PLLC. I have found that in-person therapy sessions work best for those located near Greenfield, Oak Creek, Racine, Union Grove, and Pleasant Prairie Wisconsin. Online therapy may benefit those who live greater distances from Kenosha, WI, such as Madison, Green Bay, Sheboygan, and Wausau. I am also licensed in Colorado and continue to provide virtual therapy services in this State.

The easiest way to begin TBI therapy is to call me at 720.295.6703 or submit an online form by following this link here. I look forward to hearing from you.
